Pie Season is Upon Us

September 22, 2012

Hard to believe that it already past the middle of September, and I have yet to make my first apple pie of the season. Too darn busy I guess, getting all things in order for 4th Qtr Super Peel rush! I think we are well stocked, but have some inventory matters to still follow up on.

Just want to remind everyone who may be making pies now or later in the season, your Super Peel…

is the best tool out there for lifting and positioning pie crusts, plain or with cutouts or lattice tops like this one. Thank you Lindsey, our hand model! What can go wrong with other methods: Folding and Quartering – crust can split or stick to itself, and almost always needs repositioning once in the pan and unfolded; Draping over or Rolling Around the Rolling Pin – crust can tear on pick up and can be difficult to position; Rolling out on Waxed Paper or Plastic wrap and Inverting into pan – crust can either stick to the paper, or even fall off in the process. And, standard paper is only 12″ wide, hardly wide enough for a crust for a 10″ or 12″ pie. There are any number of other methods out there, but your Super Peel is by far the best! It can even lift a crust that has become stuck to your rolling surface. This function can be fabulous for lifting, redusting and turning your crust during rolling. Even if the edges are split (now that is a good “short” crust!), your Super Peel can lift it without it tearing. If you are making several pies, and want to relocate crusts as you roll them, Super Peel is great for that! Simply, just go and get them when you need them.

I will get baking this week, I promise. We’ll shoot some new videos over the next couple of weeks, with this concentration. We’ll have some pie making tips to share as well, so please stop back!

Be Well and Bake Better!
